The ASIT1 organises an interesting meetup on June 18. The meetup covers public health and how it can be supported using geoinformation. In my perception, this is an under-discussed application domain of geospatial information and analysis.2
The event hosts domain experts who will speak about geomedicine and environmental influences on our health, spatial planning that encourages physical activity, geostatistics for identifying health risks (using the example of dioxin mapping), and the value of geoinformation for public health policies.

The ASIT meetup is in-person only (in Lausanne) and seems to accomodate about 100 people. Participation is free for ASIT members and students. Non-members can attend for a fee of CHF 50.

The Association pour le Système d’Information du Territoire in Lausanne, Switzerland, aims to promote geoinformation and facilitate the development of geographic data infrastructures by bringing together all relevant stakeholders.↩︎
It does remind me of the Health Circle of the SITG (Système d’Information du Territoire à Genève) in Geneva that I recently covered (one out of four topical groups discussing geoinformation applications).↩︎
